The 2008 GIANT Food Stores' Children's Miracle Network Radiothons were a success! The "RED Cares for Kids" Radiothon, on RED 102.3 fm, was broadcast live from Capital City Mall, Camp Hill on February 8-10, 2008. Then on February 22-24, 2008, the "I Care for Kids" Radiothon, on The Big I 105 fm, was broadcast live from Lancaster Harley Davidson/Buell, Willow Street.
The "RED Cares for Kids" Radiothon raised funds for a cardiac ultrasound machine for Children's Heart Group at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. This state-of-the-art machine will provide optimal support for the pediatric heart surgery program through echocardiography and tissue doppler, allowing doctors to see the patient's heart in real-time. The "I Care for Kids" Radiothon raised funds to update a pediatric operating room super suite at Children's Hospital. This update brings the most advanced technologies to the pediatric surgery program at Children's Hospital to help provide the best care possible for our patients.
Children's Miracle Network would like to thank the RED 102.3 and Big I105 family of listeners for helping to raise over $330,800 for Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital during the 2008 Radiothons. Thank you for helping us to celebrate another year of miracles!
Throughout each three-day event sponsored by Giant Food Stores®, radio personalities interviewed Miracle Children, Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital staff and physicians, local Children's Miracle Network volunteers, as well as patients and their families.
Listeners tuned in these two weekends in February to hear true Miracle stories. Operators stood by to take pledges that will help provide "world-class" care for the ill children of central PA treated at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
