Support of Colleges, Campuses, and Programs
In addition to faculty and student support, private philanthropy assists other areas of the University and sustains Penn State's leadership as one of America's premier public universities. Many options exist for donors who wish to support Penn State's campuses and colleges.
Program Endowments--Gift of $25,000
- Provide essential financial support to offices within the University, from academic units to student activities.
- Vary in size, from sources of supplemental income to the basis for the creation of entirely new programs and centers for research.
Endowed Lectureships--Gift of $100,000
- Bring world-renowned speakers to Penn State to lecture on timely topics and build relationships with the University.
Research Endowments--Gift of $50,000
- Provide colleges and departments the resources to support cutting-edge research, particularly in its early stages before outside funding can be secured.
Libraries Endowments--Gift of $25,000
- Enhance the collections and resources at any of the University libraries across the state, improving the quality of undergraduate learning and faculty research alike.
Service and Outreach Endowments

Such endowments help to fund continuing education programs, cooperative extension, 4-H seminars, economic development programs, and public broadcasting.
Equipment and Gifts-in-Kind
- Because the University must often wait several years for funding requests to be considered by the legislature, Penn State must look to philanthropic sources—particularly corporate partners—for gifts in kind and direct support that help to maintain a state-of-the-art educational experience.

- Initiate or complete construction, ensure that Penn State can invest in the highest-quality materials and equipment, and provide an educational resource that will stand the test of time.
