Penn State alumni and friends displayed remarkable generosity in supporting the University
in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006.
Nearly 133,000 donors made gifts totaling $165.2
million, up 26 percent from giving totals for the previous year. Thanks to your philanthropy, our Investing in People initiatives—a variety of multiyear, highly
focused fundraising campaigns—are making an important difference for students and faculty. A few examples:
- The College Excellence initiative has surpassed its $320 million goal.
-
Gifts to the Trustee Matching Scholarship Program, have
created 292 endowments over three years for financially needy students.
- Gifts for all purposes from individual alumni and friends
grew this past year to approximately $84 million, a $23 million increase from 2004–05.
All Penn Staters owe Art Nagle and the other
members of the National Council on Penn State Philanthropy a debt of gratitude for their
leadership in fundraising activities, and for the example they have set in unstintingly sharing
their time, talent, and other resources with the University.
I am in your debt, as well, for all you have done for Penn State, and I look forward to your
continuing support.
